A Word About "Template" Sites
Oftentimes we will have visitors examine our sites and they tell us "You are using a template. The sites look alike." Well truthfully, they don't all look alike. They are referring to the base layout. Yes, ExpressSites (and any do-it-yourself product) uses a foundation base to build sites.
Despite the fact that you can customize pictures, colors, backgrounds, etc., the "look alike" criticism is probably the most frequent. This is said as though template sites are somehow inferior, less professional, original, attractive, etc. than custom sites.
But is this a REAL problem? We don't think so because..............in reality, all sites are based on a template. Unbelievable?
Go to any site and see if from page-to-page the base outline is different. It's not! Every site really is based on its own template. Sure, maybe that site's template has been custom designed. But remember, it was custom built at a price far beyond the price of ExpressSites. Commercially available templates are used all the time by web designers. Probably your favorite site is based on a template and you are unaware of it. Just like your viewer will never know you are using a template with ExpressSites!
The only real problem with template based sites is if all sites on the Internet were based on the same template. Or if all web sites in your industry were based on the same template. If that were the case, the sites would be boring and you would be justified in wanting something different and unique. But the number of web sites on the Internet or even within your industry, is far too large for your site to even be recognized as a template.
